Individual Therapy

Individual therapy is one-on-one counseling between a Mind and Body expert therapist and a patient. Our therapists help individuals with depression and anxiety, grief and loss, relationship issues, and much more. We sometimes recommend individual therapy as part of an overall treatment plan in conjunction with family therapy, couples therapy, or a myriad of other mental health services we offer for your wellbeing.

There are many different styles of therapy, but all of them center around helping you reach your goals. The relationship between you and your therapist is a unique one, as it is strictly confidential and provides you an opportunity to be completely honest with yourself and your therapist, without fear of judgment or rejection. Our therapists are here to support you, advise you, and teach you healthy coping skills.

Individual therapy has been shown to improve mood and self-esteem, as well as treat mental, emotional, physical and behavioral issues. Research shows that 75% of people who start therapy see benefits. Some of the various concerns our expert therapists address include: depression, anxiety, food and eating issues, anger, addiction, abuse, and sexuality. Some of our patients participate in ongoing therapy simply for self-awareness and growth.

Individual therapy starts with an initial intake session that generally focuses on your mental and medical history, reasons for coming to therapy, and discussion of treatment goals. Finding a therapist you are comfortable with is a vital part of our process at Mind and Body, and you and your therapist will discuss the type of therapy to use, objectives, and session cadence to achieve the greatest benefit.

Therapy to Suit Your Unique Needs

Mind and Body offers various forms of therapy to suit your unique needs.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is one of the most common and effective options, and this approach helps you connect your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors to change your thought patterns. Other types include Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Interpersonal Psychotherapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Psychodynamic Therapy. This might sound like an alphabet soup of acronyms, but all you really need to know is your Mind and Body therapist will work with you to determine the right one or combination of methods to address your unique needs.
